Sue Currie - ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Sue is a Christchurch born artist who paints in a contemporary style, in watercolours, acrylics and oils. She decided that she wanted to be an artist at the age of 11 and continued to follow her goal. Starting in graphic design, Sue lived in Sydney for over 6 years and returned to New Zealand to paint.
“My passion is to paint colourful, lively work to capture the mood and light on the subject. “ Sue says. Travel to many overseas countries has enhanced her creativity, painting the busy life, buildings and landscapes.
Moving on from the earthquakes, going back to Charteris Bay in the Lyttelton Harbour Basin seemed a practical idea. Some recent paintings have been of pre earthquake buildings as well as some which are in the process of demolition.
'It has been a privilege to have enjoyed the city of Christchurch the way it was in my life-time. The majestic stone buildings, English trees and the River Avon.’
Sue exhibits regularly in the South Island and has been painting for over 38 years and is the recipient of numerous awards. Her paintings are in collections in New Zealand and overseas.
